You're more than your job title.
I love working at startups — I can put in a 60-hour week and enjoy it — but I've always believed you're more than your job title. For me, the two feed each other.
A lot of who I am traces back to scouting. I'm an Eagle Scout, and the habits it drilled in — show up, finish what you start, leave things better than you found them — are still the operating system I run on. That same instinct is why I still volunteer with my professional fraternity, helping train college members on the unwritten rules of the professional world: the do's, the don'ts, and all the stuff nobody hands you in a syllabus.
Outside of work, I'm happiest with a project going. Lately that's teaching myself to code and finishing the crown moulding that looked a whole lot simpler when I started. I play volleyball in a rec league (and yes, I take it seriously) and golf, which keeps me humble. I watch a lot of hockey and football — go Jags, win or lose.
Home is Jacksonville, where I live with my wife and Chewie, our Pomeranian who's convinced he's much bigger than he is. And once every couple of years, I chase the Olympics — Paris in 2024, Milan in 2026, USA gear on for both. Being in a crowd pulling for something bigger than any one team is about my favorite thing there is.
